SUMMARY:Peter Pfeiffer - Climate Change Responsive Design
DESCRIPTION:WEBINAR TOPIC:\n\n“Heroically Green: Upping Our Game with \nClimate-Change Responsive Design” \n\nWednesday\, March 8 \nTime:  1:00 – 2:00 pm \nKeynote:  \nPeter Pfeiffer\, Senior Partner\, McKinsley & Company \n\n \nBio: Peter Pfeiffer is a professional Architect\, Interior Designer\, and Building Scientist practicing throughout the United States and Canada.  He graduated with a Bachelor Science degree in Building Sciences from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1977.  After a four year stint working in commercial building construction he went on to attend the  University of Texas from where he graduated Phi Kappa Phi in 1983 with a Masters in Architecture degree\, emphasizing energy conservation and resource efficient design. Peter is the founding principal of the Austin-based architectural firm of Barley & Pfeiffer Architects\, specializing in “Green” building practices since 1987. \nTopic: This presentation will provide insights into the planning for sustainable design. The interaction between the building and the sighting of the building will be discussed. Specific issues will include building layout\, mechanical system and building envelope interactions\, and maximizing/minimizing the impact of solar radiation on the building’s performance. Mr. Pfeiffer will cut through the fluff and provide a run-down of what actually works in sustainable design. \nLearning Objectives: \n1.     Understand why sustainable practices are an increasingly important consideration in building design/construction/operation. \n2.     Understand how physical orientation plays into a building’s energy performance. \n3.     Understand tradeoffs and design considerations related to glazing and radiative controls. \n4.     Understand how these things can be applied in a common sense way. \nSend your questions in advance to Jeff Grant – jgrant@energypsolutions.com or ask them yourself at the Q&A session.   \nWho Should Attend:  Building Owners\, managers\, engineers and operating personnel. \nThis webinar will be recorded and posted on the BOMA New Jersey Website. \nCost:  This webinar is free for all BOMA Members and their Guests.  Wait-List are $10 each and Non-Members are $35 each.   \nThe link to the webinar will be provided after your register.
